fishing around grafton

There are six species of freshwater fish in the Grafton area of interest to the anglers. Of these Australian Bass, Eel-tailed Catfish Snub-nosed Garfish, and Pink-eye Mullet receive the most attention from both local and visiting anglers. Of the remaining two species, Estuary Perch do make an occasional appearance in the area, though they are seldom specifically fished for.  < more >

From the Harwood Bridge downstream Flathead can be caught on the drift almost the full year around, while Jewfish can be found in the deep water along the bank at Palmers Island as they chase the schools of Mullet preparing for their spawning run. Browns Rocks and the shoreline of Goodwood Island produce good Bream and Flathead, with the deeper water along the southern bank carrying plenty of fish during a fresh.  < more >

Inhabiting this magnificent river are some of the most prized native freshwater fish, the Australian Bass, legendary amongst keen sportfishers. With fish to 50cm commonly caught and specimens up to 62cm showing up periodically, these trophy fish are what Clarence River Bass are all about.  < more >
