Leave Wooli along the Wooli Road. Approximately 14km along you will
see a turn to the left with a sign marked as the start of the
Candole State Forest Road. (This turn off is approximately 20km from
the Pacific Highway if you are not doing this drive
from Wooli)
This road traverses the entire length of the Candole State Forest
and is a medium grade forestry road that is maintained for the most
part. A new wooden bridge has recently been erected by Forests NSW
as part of the maintenance of the road.
Skirting the Coast Range, the track takes you through low-lying tea
tree scrub and dry forest. After heavy rain the track becomes
difficult to traverse in parts and is not recommended for casual
4WDers.
Leave the Wooli Road and head north into the forest. The road is
dissected by many secondary forestry roads but the main road is
plainly obvious.
About 30km in and almost near the end of the journey, the road takes
a turn to the east past a large billabong and onto Bosches Waterhole
Road.
Following
this road for about 6kms brings you out onto the Brooms Head to
Sandon Road. From here you can turn south into the quaint fishing
and camping area of Sandon or go north into the delightful seaside
village of Brooms Head.
