Australian National Goanna Pulling Championships

Event Date: October 1 2017 (09:00am) - October 1 2017 (02:00pm)

Event Type: Sporting Event

Address: Wooli Sports Ground, Wooli (map)

Dating back to the 19th Century, the sport of Goanna Pulling is a test of strength between two contestants who get down on all fours, linked by a leather belt around their heads.  The aim is to pull backwards, dragging the opponent across the line tug-of war style.

Enter on the day for your chance to win great cash prizes in Men's and Ladies' Age and Weight Divisions.

The Goanna Pulling Championship Day includes many other events such as wood chopping, adults and children's novelty races, tug-of-war teams and market stalls.  A variety of food and drink will be available.

There's plenty of fun for the kids with a variety of carnival rides, a jumping castle, Old McDonald's farm and the Australian Reptile Show.

Entry to the venue is by gold coin donation with proceeds going to the Wooli Yuraygir SES, Wooli NSW Rural Fire Service and Marine Rescue Wooli.
